Injury Puts Racing On hold!

Feb  05

On the 20th February Jordan was testing at the Snetterton race circuit in Norfolk with Mark Burdett Motorsport in preparation to competing in the Formula Renault UK Championship 2006. Despite the atrocious weather conditions, Jordan managed to put in some very fast and consistent lap times, which impressed the team greatly! Team principal Mark Burdett said,

‘‘Following the Formula Renault test day at Snetterton with us, Jordan out performed the other competitors and hugely impressed the team.

I feel Jordan has the potential to do exceptionally well in the 2006 UK Formula Renault Championship and Mark Burdett Motorsport look forward to working with him throughout the year.’’

Unfortunately though the test day ended slightly prematurely due to a small accident which saw Jordan hit the tyres at the notoriously fast Coram Corner. There was only minor damage to the car but with the weather continuing to down pour and Jordan’s left wrist bruised after the accident they decided to call it a day.

On the journey back home Jordan felt that maybe his wrist was more than just badly bruised and decided to get it checked up at his local A & E with his father Howard.

After an X-RAY and a scan on his wrist it had become clear that Jordan had done more to his wrist than just bruise it. The scan’s showed that the accident had left Jordan with four pulled tendons in between his thumb and first finger. After asking the doctor how long the recovery time would be, he expected the healing process to take between three to four months, with resting it and a support brace. This would ultimately mean that Jordan would miss the first four races of the season, making it impossible to stand a chance of winning the championship. And so, after a few days of thinking it over Jordan decided that he would take a year out and comeback next year (2007) to make his claim to the Formula Renault UK Championship.
